    blunt and considerate ..well it definately depends on the time of day

    The truth is the truth. No matter how you package it, an ugly truth is an ugly truth. All you do by sugar-coating it is to prolong the ugliness at it's core. I am blunt and unfailingly honest. If I am hit with an unpleasant truth and get the force of it all at once, I get over it far more quickly that if it is doled out to me in pretty little pieces, simply for the sake of being 'polite.' I don't find masquing the truth or sugar-coating it to be the least bit polite, regardless of the intention. If someone has something to say to me that may be unpleasant, I'd prefer that they get the unpleasantness out of the way up front than to insult me by patronizing me.

    Nothing dries sooner than a tear.

    It would really depend on the circumstances, but generally tactful and considerate would be preferred.
