US Army Artillery in this time period?
I have a question about the US artillery during the war. Do they have their own division, or something? Do you get to pick if you want to join the artillery? How safe is it to be a crewmember on a gun? Is it a good experience? Also, can anyone share their expirence and how safe they were during servive if they did servive as a crew member on a gun?

I am an Artillery Officer. Artillery, while a combat arms, is a support branch meaning we support maneuver which is the Infantry and Armor.
It is a volunteer military guy. Everyone picks their job...in the Army anyways. Unless we ever face an adversary with any kind of decent Artillery or Air assets..being in the Artillery, being a gunner anyways, is relatively safe. The biggest killer of Artillery historically is other Artillery and Aircraft. Since we outpace any potential adversary in these two realms by decades that shouldn't be a major threat in the foreseeable future.
Keep in mind Artillery has many MOSs and some work directly with the Infantry and Armor as forward observers. We also have surveyors and meteorological personnel also as well as radar operators.

ArmyChem is right. I'd add that good artillery work saves lots of infantry and armour lives. This type of service is safe in low-level conflicts. In a serious war enemy's artillery is one of primary targets. Such serious enemy might be Russia as American and Russian firepower all in all is about the same. But the chance of such war is zero. Muslim terrorism pushes us to become real allies. Other than Russia there is no military that might be a serious enemy for US.

In any subject like this it would basically been particular forces and a plan could be in the making interior a jiffy of the call. With any military facility there's a plan already on the books onto a thank you to take lower back. particular forces might get close adequate to take a good look of the ability and you're able to be able to correctly be confident they might already have the nerds redirecting the satellites to take a view. Forces i think might come from the two land and air except they only desperate it substitute into extra straightforward to make a conceal up and bomb the ability.
