Mandrel bent vs. normal compression bent exhaust pipes?

Is there really that much of a difference aside from cost?

mandrel bent pipes allow for a more consistent tune through out the rev range on performance engines as they stop the echo effect(back pressure rebound)when a performance engine is running hard the exhaust comes out in a pulse and if the pulse is interrupted the tune is not as effective thus making the engine not perform at its peak, but remember we are talking about top of the line 1/10 of a second performance engines not street cars.so on a street cars it only gives you something to look and brag about. On a performance engine/car it is a big difference to killing a engine or not.hope this helps

The back pressure from normal vs mandrel bend is very insignificant. Not to mention mandrels are sold in bend sections and cost over $100 piece.

not much HP and gasmilage gain, but when building an all out engine or a show car its nice to have!!! mandrel bent pipes will usually have a different tune than normal stock pipes!!!

    Nope.

Or rather, not as much as people would like you to think.
