Patriotic songs project? lol?
So for my ASL project we have to do a "patriotic" song and she says we get to define what's considered patriotic...
which i guess means it can be anything that's not totally out there? I'm not sure...
anyway...
I need some ideas other than the generic "star spangled banner" or "this land" type sh** lol
any ideas?
I watched the michael jackson movie "this is it" on bootleg this morning and I've had man in the mirror stuck in my head all day and I was trying to find a way to make that patriotic just because of that...but I can't. lol

Last year my high school marching band did a patriotic show based on an old Cadets Drum Corps show. We were even invited to perform at Pearl Harbor (I'm from Ohio). These are the songs we did:
"American Salute" - variations of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home", may or may not have words
"Elegy for a Young American" - about JFK, may or may not have words, but if it does you may get bonus points cause it's written in weird time (4/4 measure, 4/4 measure, 3/4 measure)
"Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" - by the Andrews Sisters, if I remember right. Popularized during World War II, definately has words, pretty fast too.
"Finale" - a hodgepodge of patriotic songs, including:
"America the Beautiful"
"Over There" - a World War I-era military song
"Charlie" (?) - a Revolutionary War-era song
"America" - from West Side Story
"Our Town" - another Broadway tune
"New York, New York"
"Star Spangled Banner"
And I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but that's a long list.
We also played "Stars and Stripes Forever" in a parade, and military songs ("Anchors Aweigh", etc.) and the Navy Hymn ("Eternal Father, Strong to Save", which definately has words, the Ohio State marching band sings it before every game) at Pearl Harbor. Hope that helps.

Man in the Mirror isn't really patriotic at all, though it is an awesome song. Do this one...
