Do you have any ideas for a new salad?

I have eaten the basic salad but want some new ideas! I like most foods except berries and squash.

    9 Layer Salad

    Ingredients

1 head of lettuce, or mixed variety

    1/2 cup chopped green pepper

    1/2 cup chopped onion

    1/2 cup chopped celery

10 oz pkg of frozen peas

    1 pint of real mayonaise

    2 Tablespoons sugar

    1/2 cup of Parmesan Cheese

4 slices of cooked bacon, use more if desired.

    Directions

Plan ahead. This salad is not meant to be prepared and served the same day.

Cook bacon and cut into small pieces

You'll need a 9x13 inch dish, or a large bowl.

For peas, make sure to run under hot water for 2 minutes in a strainer before adding this layer.

Layer ingredients in order. (For the last three ingredients, sprinkle the sugar in an even layer, sprinkle Parmesan cheese in an even layer, then sprinkle bacon)

Use as little or as much Mayo according to your taste. I use just enough to cover the green peas. (Keep in mind that the layer of sprinkled sugar will absorb into the Mayo, which will alter the normal taste of Mayo, so if you normally do not like mayo, you may like this salad due to the combination of flavors from the sugar as well as Parmesan cheese, and bacon.

Seal tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Serve chilled. If desired, toss and serve immediately.

try adding fruits that are more sour to you're vegetable salad

    like mangoes or some peaches.

another trick is resins and shredded carrots.

they add a nice rich flavor to a salad be it veg or fruit.

you can also try a 3 melon salad drizzled with honey or maple syrup.

I love love love salad. If I am wanting to go all out and make a crazy salad. I try and use as many veggies as I can. I like to use Ice burg lettuce. With: Sliced carrots, sliced cucumbers (You can even marinate them in lemon juice/olive oil or in vinegar and sugar...SO yummy), red/yellow bell peppers, red onion (I some times like to caramelize them and warm them), I love to slice radishes, add some blue cheese crumbles (feta, or whatever kind you like), I sometimes add kalamata (spelling?) olives or black olives...you could add chick peas/chicken or whatever you like. And put a good dressing on it. I love Balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Anyways, hope I helped!

add cut up apples to your salad, replacing the vegetables with fruit is a really nice way to mix things up.

but, my absolute favorite salad is:

    romaine and baby spinach

    cherry or grape tomatoes

    thinly sliced cucumbers

    croutons

    sunflower seeds

    parmesan cheese

caesar dressing or thousand island mixed with ranch (weird i know)

grilled chicken marinated in Kraft asian sesame dressing, cut up into small pieces

    pretty basic and average, but..

    delicious.

Not sure what's in your "basic salad," but mine consists of spinach and never lettuce, since spinach has way more nutrients, avocado, tomato, broccoli and carrots, and you could try sliced beets., and egg.
