-243^0.2 (which is 1/5) = -3

you want to find the fifth root of -243. In other words you want a number such that X^5 = -243 the first thing to note is that the number must be negative as only a negative number will give another negative when multiplied by itself 5 times. if you just start multiplying negative numbers together you will soon find that (-3)(-3)(-3)(-3)(-3) = -243
so ( - 243)^1/5 = -3
your problem here was probably understanding the question -this is very important in maths

your answer is -3
punch in -243 on your calculator and then hit the exponent key: its the key that has a y^x on it or vise versa x^y and then hit your = key.
