Monitor resolution isssue?

My laptop monitor was set a a resolution of 1280x1024. I restarted it this morning and now the resolution is stuck at 1280x800. The resolution panel says it will not go any higher. What could have caused this and how can it be fixed?

One time this happened to my Toshiba laptop. It was supposed to be at 1024x768 but wound up in 969xsome weird number that I'd never knew was possibble for a resolution. What I did was reinstalling my graphics driver.

You can do that by right-clicking My COmputer, going to Properties, clicking hardware tab, and then Device Manager. Click the little + by the item that says display or something, right click that and there should be an option to reinstall the driver.

If you can tell me the name of your graphics card (look around in Device Manager) maybe I can get the driver for you and help you install it.
