Instead of visiting somebody with Nookington's... Why not invite somebody over to your town so you can get Nook to upgrade to Nookington's.
All you need is somebody outside your town (locally or online) to buy 1 item from Nook's store in your town. Once that's done, Nook will kick it into high gear & will eventually upgrade to Nookington's so you can get a haircut whenever you like.
In the meantime, have fun with the hats & wigs from the Able Sisters.
