Now, if you see it with Firefox, the left menu background look ok... if you open it with internet explorer... the top of it appears corrupted...

Well, your layout seems bizarre... Your main site has two columns (left: menu; right: body) but you've created it with many rows of 2 columns (368 px and 540 px).
Right there might be your problem.
You should have ONE table with TWO columns, then in EACH column, create a new table with as many rows you need. This should give you the layout you need.
