Why do some people dislike TSA screeners?

Ok, as a traveler I can see how being stopped can be a little bit annoying, but I don't take it personally because I know they're doing what they are supposed to do. I would rather see a TSA person actively doing thier job to protect me instead of a lazy TSA person standing around.

The only thing I dislike is how I am "randomly selected" everytime I go through an airport (I have dreads, probably the problem). This can be highly frustrating when it happens three times in a day. Other than that, I realize it is their job, and it is not their fault that a lot ridiculous protocols have been put into to place.

Because TSA Screeners are Security Theatre. I.E. It makes gullible people believe they are somehow being made more safe, yet in reality, they are not.

Consider this: In the standard fully charged laptop battery is the equivalent energy of a hand grenade. Should someone want to they could overcharge it and breech the cell walls, and create a fiery explosive. What is more, is you can bring several of these on the plane with you. Literally any of your fellow passengers could blow a 10-Foot hole in the side of the plane. At least the TSA screeners make sure you don't have toenail clippers though, hmm?

I personally dislike TSA workers because either they don't give a damn about their job, or they act like they have a stick up their *** and give you a hard time because they can.

If you seriously think TSA is keeping us safe, I beg to differ. I have taken a pocket knife across the country several times, it was over looked by them. Lighters are not allowed on the plane but during a 'randomly selected' search my attendant saw that I had a lighter and said ' if you got past the first screening with it then you can keep it'. I **** you not.

I really think it's for show at this point or they would be doing more.

Tell you what they get payed less than a McDonalds workers no kidding!

I think it was the department of homeland security did a trial and found more than half the fake bombs went through.

It means something to the TSA workers.

They are doing a thankless job, and sometimes it gets to them - and the passengers who have to face their attitude.

If you want to know more about the job, especially in Europe, where they seem to be able to train staff to be more polite, get the book from www.workinginaviation.com
