First off, you have to have a bachelors degree, nothing less. You really should get a hard science degree if you want to become an officer in the AF. Business and social science degrees are very hard to get a commission from. I got a degree in sociology and that is why I am going from enlisted AF to Army officer.

To be an officer in any of the branches...army, air force, navy, marines is more of commission sources (3 types) as opposed to type of college degree. If you are in college then the best route is to join an ROTC program. If your school doesn't have one, you could probably try the one at your nearest university. Google ROTC and your city.

If you are close to graduating or already graduated college then the route to take is Office Training Course (OTC). You can get information on their website http://www.au.af.mil/au/holmcenter/OTS/BOT/botappl... (air force).

Those reading who are still in high school may want to look into one of the academies (i.e. West Point for army) instead of ROTC. The academies would probably be the most difficult option, but well worth the effort. I believe the age restriction for the academies is that you cannot be older than 24 upon graduation.

To answer the original question—any bachelor's degree is fine, as long as its from an accredited school.

The AF prefers that you have a bachelors degree, but talk to a recruiter the AF might be willing to foot the bill for you to go the extra 2 years to obtain your BA .

First, if the recruiter is a recruiter for enlisted workers i do no longer understand what he will income by employing getting your officer kit submitted yet he will have something to income by employing getting you to enlist-- assembly his quota. I doubt in case you enlist in January they're going to heavily evaluate you for an officer fit in a July assembly. The AF already has you and has spent money on sending you to BMT and tech college, they want a return on that investment. they have you ever for 4-6 years so as that they probably won't look at offering you OTS till in a while. while you're set on being an officer then do no longer enlist. even if if, reliable officers do come from the enlisted component so it might desire to be a reliable determination. you will easily income extra understand out of your destiny subordinates in the event that they understand you have been as quickly as the place they are. maximum officers have not got any theory what that is desire to be in the region of the lads they lead. Enlisted extremely isn't undesirable in any respect, exceptionally in this economic equipment.
