How to dispense used batteries in Canada?

Ottawa, Ontario to be specific

I Know their made to throw out because they're contain toxic acids and metals which will find their way to groundwater, but I have no idea what to do with them.

    What to do with dead batteries? You can revive them, contrary to what you're told by the big corporations.

    A 60-Minutes documentary stated that alkaline batteries were originally invented to be rechargeable. A Canadian company, Pure Energy in Nova Scotia, makes rechargeable alkalines.

    You can also buy info on how to revive any dead single-use battery.
