Why do people call each other "weird", when people don't know what "normal" is?

we need to define what "normal" is before we start calling each other "weird", and if so why do people always want to be "normal"

If you disagree, please go ahead and define normality...

It's difficult, if not outright impossible, to define what a person would have to be like if he or she was to be ENTIRELY normal, (or abnormal for that matter), in regards to absolutely everything.

What one can do, however, is defining what is the norm when it comes to certain isolated traits. For instance, being right-handed is the norm. Being heterosexual is the norm. Being cisgendered is the norm. Being diabetic is abnormal, because most people aren't. Having an IQ which is over 150 is also abnormal, because most people don't.

..Hence I guess you can say that a person who is left-handed, transgendered, homosexual, diabetic and has an IQ over 150 is abnormal, (or "weird" if you like), when it comes to those specific things. But there are probably tons of other norms that he or she indeed DOES follow. Like for instance, maybe they have an average weight. Maybe they have the skin color that is the most common in their area. Or maybe they have ten toes and ten fingers, and they aren't missing any limbs.

..So being *completely* abnormal seems close to impossible.

But most people aren't completely normal either.

Weird is just different from you eg you like dogs so I'm weird cos I like lizards. There really is no definition of normal, but it is human nature to try and label everyone and everything. Plus what is normal now may not be normal in the the future and vice versa. People often don't like drawing attention to themselves and want to hide in the crowd so strive to be normal eg get a job, get married, have 2.4 kid,s a dog and a volvo rather than being different and travelling the world for 5 years or something. Thing is everyone is different and nothing and everything is normal!

Easy. Normal is the common behaviour shared by a group of individuals or community in an area. If 95% of people share similar mannerisms, tastes, culture then what they do is normal. the 5% who don't adhere, especially if they do things contrary to the 95%, are weird.

For example... an elderly Christian monk that sings and performs in a heavy metal band is an anomaly in the typical monk behaviour. Thus he is weird (but fkn awesome too).

Normality is determined by how a person is raised, the social codes they're given to live by, and a little bit of individual perception.

'Normal' is a judgment based on each person's individual experience so it is valid to make that judgment and to consider someone to be an outlier in that sense.
