Aust Passport Express?

I need a passport by Friday to fly from Melbourne to KL.

I was told that I could go to the consulate and get in within a couple of days. Has anyone done this before?

When I had my Australian passport stolen whilst overseas, I had all the documents to get a full passport issued rather than the emergency one and it was issued within 24 hours in Washington DC. I would imagine that if you go in early tomorrow then it should be ready by Tuesday or Wednesday as long as you pay for the priority processing.

Just wondering why you've left this so late. If you're applying for an Australian passport, in Australia, there is no consulate to go to.

You need to take all the required paperwork, included completed application form, to an Australia Post outlet. They will then process the paperwork and forward it to the Passports Office. If you don't have passport photos, most post offices can take these for you.

The Passports Office can get an express passport to you within two working days of receiving the correct paperwork, but you need to allow time for Australia Post to get the papers to the Passport Office. The fee for an express passport is much higher than normal delivery.

You can check all this out, and download an application form, from the Australian Passports Office website: http://www.passports.gov.au/
