Does anyone remember Leelee Sobieski's attack on live television...?
It was after 9-11 and Jay Leno had been interviewing her on the Tonight Show, when suddenly she committed one of the most offensive acts I've ever witnessed on television! She read this poem;
~This Day And All The Rest~
One day.
One.
More than another.
The other,
that day,
those people,
too many,
too personal,
but not.
People you know know,
but you yourself know not.
Crashing down,
all frown,
hurting,
walking,
silently screaming,
slowly running,
often feeling nothing.
Seeing the lucky ones fleeing,
seeing those trapped inside.
Cry.
Cry.
It's OK.
It's not OK.
Smile if it's natural
Feel alive.
The president speaks,
The situation reeks an act of war.
I enter my room, close the door
Sit here.
Here where buildings do not fall to the floor.
we young will experience much more
future, liberty, the freedom to mope about in poetry.
My brother I love you.
Old friends and family too.
Safe for now glad to know I'm alive with all of you.
Feel what is real feel later heal.
One.
One person feeling the same as all the rest.
Please let us act and do what is best.
Mind you, this was read by her completely straight faced. With only momentary poignant pauses in which she subjected Jay and the audience to her somber stare as if to punctuate every line.
Yes, It's been 8 years, but the trauma I suffered from being subjugated to this trite attempt at a contrived commiseration, has left me depressed and at times even suicidal when I uncontrollably reflect back to that fateful day.
Would I still be able to bring a lawsuit against Leelee Sobieki and the Tonight Show for mental anguish and emotional trauma?

I'll never forget it!
Like you I was unsuspectingly watching the tonight show when she came on.
I've never been the same since, or watched the Tonight show again, for that matter.

I myself was a victim of her random 6th grade poem attack on that fateful day. I was at home, alone and had just turned on the Tonight Show. I feel that these days one cannot turn on the tv without being exposed to such vile and bowel movement-like utterances. I felt violated. I couldn't moved.
I did find some recovery by listening to Howard Stern. He made fun of her for months, rhyming inane sentences out of nowhere… "Running! Falling! Walking! Everyone is talking!" and the like.

Personally, I consider it a hate crime. I have declared jihad upon her and enlisted the aid of the most powerful man in the land, because he's *wink* one of us. Join us!
