If you don't know how to swim well already, you'll have a tough time.
Water polo is an intense sport. Girls try and bring you underwater. You'll wind up finding yourself getting kicked a lot. It's pretty much guranteed you'll get hurt or you'll have to cough up water.
The rules are basically like soccer, you're just in the water.
I would only join this sport if you're tough, you don't care getting hurt, or you are able to learn how to swim well before the season starts.

you have to be willing to get in the action and get rough. being able to swim well is also a huge factor. the main point of water polo is to get goals by throwing a ball into a net like soccer. but you obviously use your hands, and there is more physical contact. It is a very fun sport.

Oh yes definitely, it is a challenging sport but if you are up for it, it is extremely fun. You should be able to swim decently and learn to egg beater as soon as possible. you may also want to practice throwing a ball on the dry land on your knees to most accurately simulate throwing the ball in the water.

Oh totally, sounds like it would be perfect for you! And if it says "no experience is necessary" then you've got an edge, because you're a tough swimmer. Maybe since you've stopped for a while, go do some "practice swimming'' for fun! Have fun!! Good Luck! God Bless!!
