What is the bird that has red eyes, a monobrow looking thing and can run on water?

I just saw them on Life but didn't catch the name, they're ugly though.

Sounds like a western or Clarke's grebe. A western has dark below the eye and the Clark's has white around the eye. I'll disagree with you about being their being ugly- I think they are quite elegant when they dance on water :)

Source(s): I had one in my hands and released it at a pond five minutes ago. :)
