( x - 4 ) / 10 = ( x - 5 ) / x
x( x - 4 ) = 10( x - 5 )
x² - 4x = 10x - 5
.........................................................................................
x² - 14x = - 50
x² - 2(7)(x) + 7² = - 50 + 7² ......Note This Step
( x - 7 )² = -1 = i², ....where i = √(-1)
..........................................................................................
Taking square roots of both sides,
x - 7 = ± i
x = 7 ± i.
..........................................................................................
Thus, ........x = 7 + i....and .....x = 7 - i. ..............Ans.
