Autosock, Spikes-spider, tire chains-which is best?

I am trying to decide what product I should purchase for my tires this winter. I live in NC, so snow isn't typically the problem...it's the ice. I work at an ER, so not going into work usually isn't an option for me, so I decided to check in to Autosock, Spikes-spider, or chains.

Does anyone have any experience with any of the these products?

What is recommended? Are there any other suggestions?

I have used auto socks for 4 years in Virginia on my mini Van, they do work, we get alot of icy mornings. I used them in one deep snow 12 inches, and they got me home.
