Not entertainment related? There aren't too many.

Good entertainment ones are Twist, CosmoGirl, ElleGirl, TeenPeople.

Other than that. There are ones about nature, ones just about normal teenage girls, national geographic? Not sure exactly what you're looking for.

Girls Life was my favourite magazine as a young girl. It has some celebrity stuff, but it's mostly stories, fun quizzes, facts.

There's a magazine called Total Girl that is appropriate for girls around that age. My sisters subscribe to them and I even find them interesting to read sometimes (I'm 20). They have posters of models, clothes, stories, competitions etc. I wouldn't suggest Dolly or other teen magazines, well not for an 11 year old, they have too much about sex and other innappropriate material in them. Total girl doesn't have anything like that, it's a child orientated magazine, but at the same time, not childish. Good luck, and hope she gets well. Not easy entertaining children in hospital, one of my sisters was in hospital for a long period of time too and we had a lot of trouble trying to give her stuff to do. Depends on what her interests are, if you can't find a suitable magazine, maybe something arty or crafty would be suitable, not so much a gift (in her sense of not wanting gifts) but it's something to help the time pass. some egs. longstitch, painting, scrapbooking, beading, sewing XOX

for an 11 year old, i might try "GirlsLife"

it has some entertainment, but that's not the main focus.

or you could do "Discovery Girls" (i think thats the name?), although that might be a little young too [not as young as American Girl, though]

American Girl might be a little young for her.
