Why is Japan wasn't colonized by the West?

    1) Great geography: an island nation far away from Western Europe.

    2) A warrior society

    3) Smallpox didn't work on Japanese the same way it worked agains the Aztecs, the Incas, and other Native Americans. The Japanese had immunity to smallpox. Otherwise, Japanese would have been killed off massively by disease which would have allowed Europeans to come in to colonize, just like they did in North and South America.

    Who say Japan's not being colonized? What was McArthur doing there after the war?

    And why so many Japanese youngsters nowadays worship Michael Jackson more than their emperor? Eat more french fries than sushi? And practising break dance rather than Judo?
