solve 2sqrtx+8 = 3sqrtx-2.? NEED HELP!?

steps

1.) isolate the radical on one side of the equation

2.)square or cube both sides- may have to do more than once

3.)simplify and solve

4.) check

I know the steps but my answers never work when I check my answer. I'll reward you best answer points if you answer it correctly. thanks.

    2√(x+8) = 3√(x-2)

    can't tell from the way you wrote it if just the x or the whole thing is under the radical, so I'm assuming it's the whole thing.

    When there is a radical on both sides of the equation, you cannot isolate, so square both sides:

    4(x+8) = 9(x-2)

    4x + 32 = 9x -18

    5x = 50

    x = 10

    check: (VERY IMPORTANT when squaring both sides)

    2√(10+8) = 3√(10-2)

    2√18 = 3√8

    6√2 = 6√2

    CHECKS! ;)
