Applying for a teaching job in NC without a license?
I am senior Elementary Education major from IL. I am considering relocating to Wilmington, NC after graduation. Can apply for teaching jobs without having the state license? I am eligible to receive one after filling out the forms and paying the fee but don't really want to do all of that if I can secure a job first.

Better to have that certification under your belt before applying for jobs. Without a certification from ANY state for education, your resume will hit the round file. You need all you can get to get this job. Teaching jobs at one time were a dime a dozen. Not anymore. YOu have a lot of competition out there. You might get a job alright, but it might not be the one you really want.
YOu can apply to NC with a certification from IL. It is possible that NC will reciprocate after seeing your courses, etc. and you will not have to take any other courses to be NC certified. It is possible that you will have to take a course or two just to keep the Bd of Ed. happy. Happens everywhere, not just NC.
Be a professional - get that Certificate!
