A cover letter is a letter you attach to your resume. Depending on where you apply it can be fairly simple or very elaborate. It should state where you found the job, the position you are applying for, any skills or experience you have that pertains to the position, and lastly reiterate your contact information. It also helps to thank them for their consideration.

So this is for a job I guess?

ok well a cover letter is not the same as a resume, but you can hand in a resume with a cover letter,

A cover letter is a small letter saying thankyou to the manager for taking the time to read your resume or that your interested in a postion at your shop/store, most of the time employers want a cover letter so its best to just write one anyway.

a cover letter is typing up a letter that goes with your resume. What you put on a cover letter is a letter sent along with other documents to provide additional information like explaining a little about what you do as in employment.

A brief letter submitted with an application for a job that states the manner in which you discovered the position was available, how your skills are suited to the position, and what steps you expect to take to contact them after submitting the resume.

well for a job application it's a letter to the possible employer stating what position you are applying for and you can give a few details on why you are qualified.

If you are talking about a fax cover letter then it's just a paper saying who the fax is for, you name and phone number on it

A cover letter usually goes with a resume.

A cover letter is like a breif introduction, you can say how you were inittially attracted by the company and what motivates you to want to work there, and things like that, and also, you can say anything that you think you want to say but isn't in your actual resume.

It is a letter that goes before or over your resume when you submit it to a potential employer. It is basically a brief letter stating why you would be good for their company, your skills and goals, and thanking them for giving you a chance to review your resume. Hope this helps!!!

On a paper? On a fax? On a resume?

There are soooo many different types of them.

Generally they explain things such as:

The contents of whatever it is "covering" as well as the author, the date, the class and teacher/professor, how many pages, contact information, and so on.
