454 starter crunch it ate the last starter?
i tried no shims then 2 shims it would start fine a little weak though then next morning crunch then the shims same thing it is missing bracket on back of starter.tried to jump it still weak same thing it ate the last starter fly wheel looks great on it

It may still be the flywheel. Even though the teeth look Ok on it. The bolts that hold the flywheel to the engine sometimes come loose and the flywheel cracks all around the holes where the bolts go in. Then the flywheel will flex when the starter engages and then causes the starter to go bad. drop the inspection pan and peek at the flywheel bolts, look for any signs of cracking too. If so, then replace the flywheel.
