On the page that displays an Internet Explorer error message, click the Diagnose Connection Problems link. The Network Diagnostics tool will run. When the tool has finished running, it will report one of the following results:

    * It was unable to find a problem.

    * It has detected a problem. Additionally, the tool will provide guidance about the next steps to take to troubleshoot the problem.

Internet Explorer 6 users click Detect Network Settings

How do you know you have a good connection? Do you mean you have a good connection to the router? If it is wireless, this is a particularly poor indication of connectivity for browsing.

This does not mean you ave a good connection to the internet. The ability to browse means you:

    1. have a connection to the local area network (even if it is only 1 pc - this is probably what you are seeing) and

    2. the local area connection has a connection to the ISP and consequently the web.

If you open a command window (Start / Run / in the box type CMD and press enter

In the command window, type ping www.yahoo.com

You should get back 4 replies saying the time it took to roundtrip to the yahoo site.

If you get timeouts, then you do not have a connection to the web.

Start you trouble shooting/questions from there

Have you checked your DNS servers?

You can be connected all you want, but without a good DNS server address, your browser will never get a web page

    check it this way

    Open a DOS window

    enter "ping 69.147.144.224" (no quotes)

    you should get 4 replies

If you get no replies, you do not have an Internet connection

    If you got replies

    enter "ping yahoo.com" (no quotes)

    You should get 4 replies

If you get no replies, you do not have a valid DNS server

In that case, try repairing your connection

If you get replies, but you browser does not work, IE may be corrupted

Get a download of Firefox off a friends computer and install it

    Good Luck

First check the status of connection

rt click on LAN/WLAN icon which is found at bottom and select status and also select support to check ip(192.168.x.x and def.gateway-192.168.x.x)

    >then got to run-cmd and then type PING def.gateway address and see if it replies

    >also ping web addfress and see the replies if everything is fine jus clear the ie cookies and history

    It should be fine

Have you tried to use another browser? Google Chrome or Firefox If that does not work, check with your ISP Are the lights blinking on the modem? Check the cable connections.

haha probably because its a pc. i switched from pc to mac a year ago and has never had any problems and runs perfectly. anyways you can check the network diagnostics because it is most definitly your internet settings if you have road runner or something like that tr unplugging the power for exactly 15 seconds and putting it back in if it still doesnt work you might have missed a payment or your stupid pc has a bug. IM A MAC AND IM MUCH HAPPPIER THEN YOU TRUST ME SWITHC YOU WILL LOVE IT
