How much wine should I purchase for 16 person party?
Throwing a surprise bridal shower in my home on Sunday. We're doing a pampering/spa theme with quiche, salad, fruits, choc. cov strawberries, etc. I have people coming in to do mini massages for the guests as well as someone from Mary Kay sampling different body scrubs. I plan on serving a big pitcher of iced tea with fresh cut lemon.
My question is, I have 16 guests including myself, 1 is younger and obviously won't be drinking so about 15 people who may be interested in wine. How many bottles do you think I should get and given the menu do you think I should go heavier on the white? My home is about a 1/2 drive for most so it's not like people will be overindulging but I want to be sure I have enough.
Thanks!

If it's in the afternoon, you probably won't need as much as you would for a dinner party. I think 6-8 bottles would be enough, and you definitely want a variety, but more whites. In keeping with the spa theme, you could also include a couple bottles of sparkling wine. One of my faves is Cristalino Cava - it's under $10, not too sweet and pairs well with most foods. I would have a light red or two on hand, since some people prefer it, especially now that the weather (in most areas) has cooled off quite a bit.
Good luck, sounds like a fun time!

I would definitely go heavier on the white wine, and maybe even some sangria. I threw my sister a bridal shower at my house last weekend, so all of these ideas are still fresh in my head. I also did the whole tea thing. I had the iced tea with lemons, Hot tea in a kettle with honey-on-a-stick (they looked like lollipops), mimosa (champagne with orange juice), and white wine. We had about 25 women there, and I bought about 4 bottles of reisling white wine (my spelling is terrible today, I'm sorry lol). Try to go for something sweet and smooth. Keep in mind that I also had all those other drinks, so the 4 bottles were MORE than enough. Have fun!

It also depends how long is the party. Most people probably won't have more than 2 glasses of wine. Based on the menu, absolutely go with mostly white. Maybe even 1 bottle of rosé.

Ever tried boxed Franzia or Vella? It's wine on tap. Very tasty, reasonably priced, large variety to choose from, and each box has 5 liters of wine. We prefer Blush.
2 boxes would be plenty, and no need to worry about any left over remaining in a bottle. It'll stay fresh and on tap in the fridge.

Hmm...
The first question: are they big on drinking? Do, at least, 5 of them drink more than 3 glasses full?....If yeah, then you need about 8-10 bottles.
Also, it depends on the alcohol level. Like stronger wines would not be "drank" as fast. Additionally, also depends on the food.
But, overall I think 7 bottles is plenty enough.

Make about 32 jello shot and different flavor and about 3 keg of trash bunch, it should last 16 people for a night and enough for a hang over. Get some red wine( very popular among adult) and get another 2 dozen of beer to entertain the guys.

yeah def white/rose for others, i would bring more rather then less bc on the chance that ppl end up feelin the moment u dont want to ruin it by having to leave for more and lookin like an alcoholic haha
