why is my house warm all the time?

my house is always warm even though i have the thermistor turned down. i haven't even put the plastic on the windows yet. i live in minnesota.

Update:

my house is always warm even though i have the thermistor turned down. i haven't even put the plastic on the windows yet. i live in minnesota. i have the thermistor set to 60. and the outside is getting down into the 30's

    You must have turned from 90 to 80. You didn't say what you have it turned down to.
