free ride boards are usually lighter than free style boards but the average is 2-4 pounds. its not about Weight its about thickness. thin board get amazing control but lacks speed and don't do well in powder. thick boards make it harder to control it but gives super fast speeds. also in length, if its long you get fast speeds, good maneuverability and lift in powder. but length can compensate for thickness.

Kevin is clueless. Freestyle/Park boards are usually a lot lighter, because they need to be. Spinning in the air can get really complicated with a heavy board because there is so much momentum, so park boards are usually a lot lighter. A lighter board gives the rider a lot more aerial control (a lot easier to make last-second adjustments on a landing). There are really no cons to a light board, but they will usually be more expensive. Freeriding boards don't really need to be very light to work well because they are not meant to be used for jumps, so you will really never know the difference. Freeriding boards are more concerned with getting the perfect flex and feel than about how much the board weighs. In general, if you are riding the park, you will want a lighter board, but it doesn't matter if you are just carving down groomers.
