What can you use to edit ".mpg" files?

Question

I took some videos on my camera for a project, and when I upload them onto my computer they were in ".mpg" format. I need to be able to edit them, I don't need to be able to add any fancy effects or anything, I just be able to cut and edit, then put it all together and save it as 1 big video.

What would be a good program to use? Something that wouldn't ruin the quality of my videos, preferably.

I have a Mac I could use, too...would I be able to edit them on iMovie? If so, how would I go about doing that?

If you need to edit mpg files with imovie, you need to convert mpg to imovie suitable video format like mov or mp4, learn how to edit videos with imovie:

hi ,there is a good programme that i have used for converting .mpg for mac .it is a highly-regarded brand software ,which my friends recommend me and it works well ,camparing to other ones that i have used ,it almost save the original quality.
