Here's an easy math question...?
it would take leo 6 hours to dig a ditch. it would take alma 11 hours to dig the same ditch. how long will it take leo and alma to dig the ditch together ?

Leo can dig 1/6 ditch per hour and alma 1/11 ditch per hour, so together they can dig
1/6 + 1/11 ditch per hour or 6 + 11 / 66 or 17/66 ditch per hour
To dig one ditch takes 66/17 hours or 3.88 hours

I first thought...
11 + 6 divided by 2
= 17 / 2
= 8.5 hours
But then thought no because Leo could do it in 6 hours himself.
Alma would reduce the time if she helped.
Alma would reduce Leo's time by a rate of 11 / 6 I think
So 6 - (11/6) = 4.167 hours.
