I'm sure it is a scam since it is out of Russia. Other countries cannot send you a 1099 for tax purposes unless they have a legitimate tax paying business in the U.S. Also, I noticed on all the other replies posted, that even though you gave them your Name and address, it did not ask for a Social Security number. That, they also need to send you a 1099 tax form.

I would beware that this is a phishing scam for identity.

I also received this email that said they found my resume on careerbuilder and did respond. I've been doing it for a week now and they have offered an additional position that involves accepting money, which of course I will not do. They have not asked for additional information. Since I am unemployed, I also figured I have nothing to lose except the time I have put in. We'll see what happens at the end of the month as to whether or not a check is received and if it's good.

They contacted me at the same time (November 16th), and I figured that it was a scam too so I decided to roll with it. I received the same work to be edited initially (I don't know if latter ones are all the same),so I got even more suspicious. I asked how I would be reimbursed, and they said they can do either check, money order, or direct deposit. I clarified that I am in no way doing outbound money or any of that sort of thing.

A couple more days of editing stuff for them go by, and then they send me an email saying that I do "Good Work" and that they have an opening for a "Local Agent"... I'm sure the identity theft/cash wire transfer thing is coming up next. I'll go with it though and see what they eventually ask. It's mildly entertaining and gives me something to do in my spare time. I'll update you all once I found out the details of the "Local Agent" position.

I am curious to what your email of emails look like, I did the same thing and got back an email or emails....

    Do you have the following?

    Dear Ted,

The samples of the page designe that you presented were examined by our specialists.

We prefer the second one. The only thing left is to improve the ad banners.

We are having negotiations with new advertising company and at the end of the week the list of the baaners will be formed.

After that we will finish the page designe.

The previous banners and their placement won't be changed.

Our web-designer will develop the new banners and this will help us to make all the process faster.

He has already prepared the samples for examination and you will receive them for placement soon.

Our support www.Krutomer.ru receives the letters from our clients where they write that they receive messages with the attached links.

After that our clients find themselves on the harmful pages.

We have to work that problem out. It'a very important to protect our clients.

We are waiting for your answer on this item.

    Best regards

I received the exact same text/ proof reading offer word for word that was listed. I also received the exact word for word text and proposition to become an "agent" as mentioned in the other answers because of the" great" job I had done proof reading the same text he is sending everyone else. It is as though he is reading from a script. The only thing that changes is his last name. The version I got was Adam Goodman.

Like you all, I am desperately seeking work and now am more disheartened than ever.

Yes, he is picking us up on Career Builder. So much for that site.

    Thanks and be careful.

***sounds like a scam, too good to be true it usually is. There are too many spelling errors for this to come from a legitimate company. There is no company website or email address indicated. When I did a google search nothing substantial came up. DONT FALL FOR IT!!

I received the same e-mail and replied with my data. I got a reply from a man with the e-mail name of Adam Noel. The e-mail contained this info:

Thank you for your information. You are suitable for the job. We will send you the first texts for correction today or tomorrow.

Please revise these texts at the SAME DAY and send them back to us as we have to mail them to our clients and employees!!!!!

    1Kb=$8.00

About taxes: We send you the 1099 at the end of each year.

Shortly after I got the first file for correcting which was made up of e-mail correspondence.

They haven't asked for any further info, which is curious.

The web link at the end of Adam's e-mail took my to a russian dating site out of moscow.

So I'm really thinking that this is bogus. Which stinks because I really need a job and I am decent at proof reading.

My fingers crossed that nothing bad happens.

Did you have contact with this company?

A legitimate business gets all the information they need from you in your resume, references, and follow up interviews. They do not send job postings to people online. They wait for people to contact them from postings they have out legitimately.

This is a scam to get your personal information and/or money.

    Do not respond to it.

Report it, forward it to the FTC at spam@uce.gov and to the abuse desk of the sender's ISP.

For yahoo, report them here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya%E2%80%A6

Choose Fraud as the reason for the violation you're reporting on.

Also, if the E-mail appears to be impersonating a bank or other company or organization, forward the message to the actual organization.

You really need to get yourself some employment etiquette and knowledge fast.

The first being that job hunting online, is just asking for people to try to scam you.

Looking on the Internet is risky at best, as it is much too easy to lie and cheat online.

If you are serious about finding work, use an employment agency.

I have been doing work for them for about a week and have had good conversation with them. I have not received a request for money or banking information. I plan on having them send me a check and letting it clear after depositing it.

After reading many responses that everyone has posted, I can agree with their apprehension. Although as a business owner, one needs to "interview and test" many applicants to find the correct one especially since they do not have the luxury of face to face interviews. I have been on the Krutomer International dating site and it seems to be in depth and time consumingly well constructed, but since everything is in Russian, it could be nothing but a bunch of recipes for pumpkin pie for all I know.
