Why do so many younger guys have a warped view of what a fast car is?

You answered your on question. The kids watch movies like Fast and Furious and get a warped view of what makes a fast car. They think if you put a spoiler on something it can magically go fast. I say take your car knowledge and educate the kids that are saying the stuff that caused you to post this question and by doing that you can help make the world a better place.

alotta kids drive/race civics and nissans because its cheaper to mod.. not because they're generally fast cars. they dont make "fast" cars that are affordable to everyone anymore. its all about eco-friendly, gas savers now. Yes any car can be fast if whoever pours alotta money into it.. but whether its pulled in on a trailor or not doesnt mean anything towards the cars performance. Some ppl would rather trailor it... its just personal preferance on that subject.

The F & F did contribute to the younger kids wanting to mod civics and now its became the norm. and what ppl know. majority of the kids will get civics cuz everyone else has.. and its usualy the first car the parents buy them :) lol

i agree with you, i'm 17. i like the fast and the furious movies but i'd never want a car from that movie.

well civics and other fwd cars are relatively cheaper to buy, insure, and mod. civic's really cheap because its common, and lots of aftermarket parts. but personally, i'd never mod a fwd. i'd defintely mod a rwd japanese car.

fast and the furious isn't really a true movie when it comes to real cars in my opinion. like in one of the movies, there was a scene on a drag race where one guy was doing both a burn out and a wheelie at the same time which is 100% impossible.

I can't go through a few neighborhoods without people trying to race me. They usually are lifted trucks or cars with the fart can, spoiler, decals that don't match the car (TRD on anything not toyota), sound system, and what ever walmart has in the auto department. Domestics are also guilty as I've had an SVT focus try to race me.

You are so correct.A 1.6 or 2.0 Honda or Nissan,is just a get around car.I think movies and comics are a lot to blame here.It's "image",that's all it is.I see a lot of youngsters come into my store,asking how they can make these "performance" cars.The answer is simple....You can't.They are four,or six cylinder small engines.So instead,they put Euro lights on them and those rear end load resonators,that turn the bumper cover black and eventually,melt them.The sad thing is,they get offended,when the parts stores,will not refund their money.

Take a pill Kenny; one man's POS may be anothers pride and joy. And true auto enthusiasts do not pan another man's wheels. The auto fraternity has enough people attacking it without us attacking each other over our choice of rides.

And while I have little or no use for "PHARTE CANS" some of these little buggers can built a righteous ride and they can beat cars that cost thousands of dollars more. You need to mature as much as some of these kids do. And lighten the Heck up.

Yeah the f&f movie doesnt show anythin bout perfomance. They a all family cars -Lexus IS300, Pontiac GTO(its a 4 seater!!)- An SLR would kill em!

i'm a younger fella myself and own a 79' trans am. it makes me laugh when i see some of the kids i went to school with pull up next to me and say they can blow me outta the water with a civic, so i naturally race and totally kick um square in the butt.

Dont hate, I own a muscle car, you just have to realize these cars can be quite competitive track cars.
