    Deep fried.

    No doubt about it.

Had it for the first time this summer, and went out and bought my own fryer the next day.

And I am going to use it foe Christmas!

It can blizzard and snow and be -40; I am going to have deep fried turkey for Christmas!

My brother has this big deep fryer out in the yard with a protective cinder block wall around it and he fried a turkey one year I was there and I must say it is very moist and good BUT, that said, I do like a roasted turkey.

the easiest is for Publix to cook it for you. The next easiest is to bake it, that way you can walk away from it and chat with relatives. Smoking would take the barbeque (we aren't allowed to use the barbeque grill here). Deep frying is probably what people will be doing this year but there are dangers involved with that if the bird is still frozen and it can cause an accident. I'd personally not want to run to the hospital.

My ex-husband started smoking turkeys in the 1970's. He got his father and some other people to smoking them, and his father finally built a huge brick barbecue, he smoked turkeys for the family and friends and neighbors. Smoked turkey is good and I also like baked with crunchy skin. My mother-in-law would also make a baked turkey but she boiled it first in a big pot of water for hours to keep it moist, I was shocked the first time I saw her do that thinking the wings and legs would fall all, but it was a really good turkey, a large Tom turkey at that, nicely browned on the outside from the last hour baking in the oven.

My favorite is a roast turkey with the dressing stuffed into the cavities, everything nice, hot and moist, and the skin very crisp, both top and bottom! I start mine out upside down, then turn when that is getting brown. I do tent my turkey.

I like it anyway you cook it. If I'm going to smoke it I want to do it myself and it will take a long time. I'm retired so forget that. Roasted is still the old standard I think. Fried on the side is great. Have one of each.

Usually a family has a favorite way they like Turkey Cooked.

My personal favorite is baked, stuffed with oysters and dressing.

    Yams baked on the side.

    Corn bread sticks.

    Gravy.

    Ford Hook Lima Beans.

    Cranberry Salad.

Pineapple marmalade and mustard mixed for dipping the turkey.

For the past several years, I've brined the turkey then roasted it. I've tried several solutions flavored with either lemons, apple juice or oranges. They were all pretty good. I've standardized on lemon and basil. The meat is moist and flavorful.

I've eaten turkey cooked in a pit that was fabulous. I've never done it myself.
