Is it true the freeway traffic in So. Cal that bad?

Yes, it can on bad days. It's not always that bad for everybody. After you've lived here awhile, you learn which side streets you can use to bypass the freeways. Once bad accident can make commuting a nightmare. But yes, it can be that bad some days. (Actually, 2 miles would take about 24 minutes on a bad day).

Local joke goes something like this: Know why they call it the 405? Because you go 4 o' 5 miles per hour, and it takes 4 o' 5 hours to get where you're going!

I just cme back from So. CA. Yeah, the traffic is really really bad. i will never ever complain about traffic on the LIE ever again. I was in Moreno Valley. I drove to Santa Monica almost every day> THat was 1 1/2 hour mission off peak, from 10 am to 2 pm. 2 1/2 rush hour 3 pm to 8 pm every freakin day. It was wild.

California is beautiful because you have the ocean all along the coast and there are hills and mountains everywhere, although there are deserts. It's definitely true what they say about it. Gorgeous. Check it out. But don't just go to LA. Go to Santa Barbra, Napa Valley and the Lake Tahoe area. Lake Tahoe which is huge (and isn't just in California, part of it's in Nevada) is beautiful during the winter since it's snows. Good for skiing.

It depends on the freeway and what time of day you are traveling. I can sometimes drive 40 miles in 30 minutes..or sometimes it can take a few hours..it all depends.

its worse than they say. i once took an hour and a half to go half of a mile near the hollywood bowl. and 2 days ago it took me over 2 hrs to get home from downtown which is about 8 miles away.

Yes, the traffic really sucks here. Seriously, out here, if you plan on staying at the same job, you can save a lot of hassle and money by moving where you work.

I moved to El Segundo and just walk to work now. It's more expensive, but worth it.
