Who do you think is the best male vocalisty in country music history?

I asked a question similar to this asking who the best vocalist is currently, and a few people mentioned how classic artists are so much better. I agree with these people, and I'm wondering who you think the best all-time is.

Same question goes for female vocalist and vocal group.

    Key here is "vocalist."

To me this means the "sound" of the voice and how they deliver the lyrics with proper emotion and feelings and so on.

For this, I would have to say George Jones.

    Conway Twitty has "that" voice.

I love Clint Black, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, Mark Chestnutt, Doug Stone as newer voices.

For women, I think Reba MacIntyre brings a lot.

Dolly Parton - especially with "I Will Always Love You" Also done VERY WELL as a duet with Dolly and Vince Gill - The often "loved" version by Whitney Houston SUCKS as far as bringing the EMOTION of the song forward!

    Tammy Wynette, Tanya Tucker.

I'll link you to some of my favourite tunes with these singers.

    George Jones

    Doug Stone

    Travis Tritt

    Alan Jackson

    Mark Chestnutt

Clint Black - duet with wife Lisa Hartman

    "When I Said I Do"

    And a WHOLE WHACK MORE.

I originally fell in love with "The Dance" by Clint.

He does this song very very very well - but does he have the classic style that some of these others have?

"The Dance" - one of the best ever.

There are a LOT of "attempts" at singing "The Dance" on youtube!!! This is actually Garth Singing it.
