Are there any gourmet food stores in Venice, Italy?

Venice is full of good food stores, and most are reasonably priced. But make sure you go to shops that off the tourist trail (you'll understand what I mean when you get there) and go where real Venetians shop. Venice is a small place and you'll have no trouble finding good delicatessens. Your hotel should be able to recommend local stores.

Yes of course, you will be amazed at the abundance of great quality and inexpensive food and locations. But don't forget:

A lot of people in U.S. BELIEVE that many dishes served here are REALLY italian, instead they are NOT. I mean, maybe some of them are modified old recipes of their grandparents, that came from NOWHERELAND in the South of Italy in 1890 !!

But They are not original authentic dishes and not Known in Italy.

Ex: Chicken Fettuccini, Spaghetti Meatballs(nobody will serve you this plate in a nice restaurant, unless you will eat in a truck drivers'

diner, and in the northern area they could get offended too if you ask for it), Spumoni ( maybe in Sicily, otherwise they will laugh at you) and ordering a SALAD before the first course *unless you are in a self-service buffet* !

So don't go into a restaurant asking for some ALFREDO SAUCE,

(who's that anyways??) 'cause it doesn't EXIST in Italy !!!!

However, you will easily find a delicious HOMEMADE butter-cream sauce, called ALLA PANNA or AL BURRO.

Yes, but the real ones are secluded: only the few real venetian know them. same problem in Verona Rome and Florence.

Far better to give a try to other cities as: Padova, Vicenza, Bologna, Ferrara, Modena, Parma, Mantova, Cremona, Reggio Emilia. The Food Valley!

Yes, of course, there are some. But they're more than double as expensive as out of the lagoona.
