How does Rate My Professor.com work?

I am searching for good professors and it's my first time using the website.

What does it mean by ease and hott? The higher the ease is good, right?

    This is how it works.

Students will sign up to the site and be able to write brief descriptions of the classes they took by a given teacher.

The category "Ease" is used by students to describe how easy the class was to them. 1 would mean the class was very difficult, while a 5 would mean the class is very easy (Remember this is subjective... what is easy to one person may be hard for another)

The "Hot" category is "for fun"... it is the category students have a chance to rate how attractive they find the professor to be. Again, 1 would mean they find the teacher unattractive and 5 would mean they find the teacher vary attactive.

The "Clarity" category is used by students to describe how clear information is presented in class, by the teacher and how it is tested... if there is a high "clarity" rating, it means information is given to you in a clear, precise manner, and it is that information on which you will be tested. If there is a low "clarity" level, it may mean the teacher presents TOO much information, and it is very difficult to determine what you need to learn for a test... or the information is presented TOO quickly and not enough time is given to ensure all the students understand the concepts

Lastly, The "Helpfullness" category is used by student to describe how helpful the teacher is when you approach him/her with a problem, or question. The higher the rating, the more likely the teacher will be available to help students understand the class material on a regular basis. A low rating may mean the professor is never available to answer questions, and does not care whether a student understands the information presented in class.

So, that's about it. The users comments are given by the students themselves. Just remember, not all comments about a teacher are helpful. More students who have a bad experience in class are more likely to write a comment, than students who enjoyed the class. Because of this, even a GREAT teacher may appear bad because of the disproportionate number of bad review.

Hope that explains it all. Good luck.

    Rate Your Professor.com

Students who have had professors listed on the site can write their reviews of the professors. However, not all professors are on there, which makes things tricky sometimes. Also, not all reviews are accurate, so don't base your selection solely off of that site! A hot rating means how hot they thought the professor was. (Looks-wise) and an easy rating is how easy their class/how they graded was. So yes, the higher the points, the better. If you use the site to pick your professors, you should try to remember to leave reviews at the end of the semester for other people to read.

Bad ratings are mostly posted by those students who are not willing to work as hard as the professor requires, but want good grades any way. Good ratings can mean a good teacher as well as one who is easy to give good grades even when it is not deserved, hence be popular.

Yes, the higher the "ease", the better. "Hott" doesn't really matter, it is just if people who rated him/her thought they were good looking.

It is a very useful website, use it for each professor you choose! The total rating is out of 5. The higher the rating, the better. When you're finished with the semester, rate all the professors you had so other people can read them.

Easy professors aren't always the best. Keep in mind that sometimes you need to be challenged, or otherwise you won't learn anything.
