What dog breed should I get?
We want an indoor/outdoor dog, intelligent, not yappy, loyal, good with people, easy to train, cute and not too large. It should also be able to remain well behaved when we aren't home due to school/work.

I would get a Shetland Sheepdog. These are mini Collies and are everything you are looking for. Most sheepdogs are the same but the Sheltie is one of the smallest. Very smart, smaller, loyal and calm. Also the best dogs to get if you want a calmer dog would be larger dogs. The smaller breeds seem to be more excited and hyper. The dachshund however is a small non-hyper breed. The dachshund can not stay outside for long periods of time, they MUST be an indoor dog. But these dogs are the best lapdogs you could find! If you have any questions about dogs, message me anytime. I am a dog trainer and I can help you with this kind of stuff. =D

The Lagotto Romagnolo comes from the Romanga region of Italy. While it was traditionally bred to be a water retriever, it also is the only dog that is specifically bred to hunt Truffles. The breed is highly intelligent and quick to catch onto training. They are active and get along well with other animals (if socialized properly) and children. Lagottos are excellent swimmers and will be quick to splash in any available body of water. The Lagottos curly coat will become matted if it is not clipped down or brushed regularly. This hypoallergenic breed weighs between 29 and 23 lbs. hope it helps have a happy life : )

Beagles howl, bark & "bay" so NOT a good choice! Cockers are prone to lots of diseases and sorta hard to train...
You should get a poodle! You might find it hard to believe but they are one of the most intelligent breeds (second only to Border Collie) so they are VERY easy to train, very good with people, not too large, well behaved, loyal and cute. They also don't bark much. They do not shed so they are good for clean freaks and allergic people. The only downside is that 1) they need lots of grooming and 2) they are active (despite what you might think) so they'll need a good, long daily walk... Go to petfinder.com and type "poodle" for breed and your zip code and it'll show you all available poodles in your area... you could also go to AKC's website and check the poodle rescues there, they are all reliable and you'll still save a life =))
You could also go to your local shelter and find which one you click best with =)) As they are mostly mixed breeds, it'd be easier to find one that fits all your requirements. As the volunteers there whether the dog is good with people, is quite and easy to train. The dogs there are tested around all sorts of stuff, so they can tell you. They are up-to-date on shots, are wormed and spayed/neutered, trained and they cost a lot less. Plus you'll be saving a life =))
Hope I helped =))

You may want to try a schnauzer, wheaten terrier or a poodle (lots of size choices). All of these dogs are known for being very intelligent and loyal. They are also low shedders so that should help you out some too. Remember to stay away from pet stores and research any breeders you are considering. I've been reading a lot about that stuff lately and it is more important than I ever imagined. Best wishes :)

What you're looking for is probabilly a golden retriever\labrador. I'm sorry for being so boring, but it's really all I have to suggest. You weren't too clear and they are *the perfect family pets*. I don't think you should leave ANY dog home-alone for the entire day, if you are thinking in doing so.

Cavalier King Charles. They are cute and well behaved. They don't bark too much and they get on with other household pets. They are not too big and not too small. They can be left alone for a while and they are good with people.

I find that staffordshire bull terriers are a great family dog that are indoor/outdoor dogs, great with kids, hardly bark, though need constant training and love.

i suggest you get a border collie since they are thought to be the most intelligent dog among the species, hence they are extremely easy to train. Also, they can be very active dog and they are medium sized.

well if you want it to be quiet and all those things i would get a cocker spaniel over 3. because sometimes if they are younger than that they are a little bit hyper.
hope i could help.
