It's very difficult to state which job is more difficult.
The fire officer entering a burning building.
The nurse holding the hand of a dying child.
The police officer finding the mutilated body of a young person
The prison officer finding another hanging person
The solder abroad at war
each one has it's perks each one has its down side. Why don't we pay them all a decent wage....oh that would mean more in tax and less in returns such as DHSS handouts

NO - Do you know that on a night shift, some firemen sleep through the whole shift and the next day have a second fulltime job. They have a friend within the fire service on a different shift does the exact same thing and that job is shared between them. A fireman is also a member of a Trade Union whereby a Police Officer is not allowed to be a member of a Trade Union.
If there are no fires, you do nor need a fireman, there is always crime. Sorry a fireman might have to climb a tree to save a cat, oh no, sorry again, he isn't allowed to for Health abd Safety reasons.

Given that there are roughly 115 deaths among full time firefighters who number 275,000 in the US
and 140 among full time policemen, who number 538,000 in the Us, it is clear that firefighters have a far more dangerous job. A firefighter is approximately 2x as likely to be killed in the line of duty as a cop. I feel that firefighters are most underappreciated, and underpaid folks in the nation.
Cops go to work armed and usually arrive at a crime scene too late to help the victims. Firefighters go to work knowing that every time the truck rolls they are facing death or injury yet they walk willingly into fires to save lives.
I think firefighters should be amongst the highest paid people in the government.
No, I'm not a fireman nor do I even know any but this is how I feel.
Too many cops spend their time sitting in their warm patrol cars waiting to give out traffic tickets.
They should be paid the same as meter ,maids.

years ago the remuneration of relevant sections of public services were rationalised, a ward sister, a police inspector and a fire officer of equivalent rank would draw the same pay, as they assumed a similar level of responsibility, how this ever got separated you decide!!
Add while police officers are denied membership of trade unions and political parties, they don't normally attain promotion above the rank of Sergeant, unless they are a Freemason!!

The plod should be paid according to their worth. A cup of rice and a boiled egg should just about make that right. So yeah, by all means give the fire brigade the same - They spend 99% of their time loafing about doing sweet FA anyway.
