How do I make a styrofoam glitter Christmas decorations?

I remember making decorations as a kid that we would take paper Christmas napkins and glue them to styrofoam balls, then decorate with glitter.

I am not sure if I am missing any steps and I am not have any success with searching for this craft.

Anybody made these before / have full directions?

Thank you!

Were you using translucent glitter (holographic, or pearl, or something), or were you using an opaque glitter like red or gold, etc.?

Were you using the larger-flake-size "craft" glitter?... or were you using the ultra-fine polyester glitters often used for decorating t-shirts and many other things, etc?

Were you covering the entire ball with glitter, or just certain parts or shapes?

The napkin part sounds like it was just "decoupage," using a purchased decoupage medium like ModPodge or Royal Coat, or the homemade version of a permanent white glue like Elmers GlueAll thinned 3 or 4 to 1 with water (these would be used both under and over the napkin parts). You could decoupage pieces of napkin/etc on any surface btw, even on metallic "glass" xmas ball ornaments (though the color of the ball ornaments could show through any light-colored napkins).

Sometimes those fine-grain polyester glitters in translucent versions (no "color) or holographic ones are used over entire colored images or objects so that the images show through and are sparkly but less distinct (the glitters are sprinkled onto a wet layer of the decoupage medium or thinned glue, or perhaps mixed into the medium then brushed onto the surface).
