Can anyone suggest a natural scent that cats are guaranteed to avoid?

Our new 8 month old kitten started using one of our former cat's beds for a kitty box. (We forgot to throw it out when the other cat died.) She does use her own box, but used the bed, too. Obviously we threw the bed out, but I'd like to put some sort of non-injurious repellent in the area so she won't be tempted to keep "going" there. Also, if anyone has ideas about a repellent spray for furniture, they'd be appreciated. She's a love, but a real digger! One suggestion was an infusion of rosemary in water, but if anyone has

a better idea, I'd appreciate it!

Anything lemon, orange, or citrus-y scented will keep your cat away from the area. Cats hate citrus-y smells!

Check your local pet store -- most pet stores have cat repellent spray that you can spray on areas where you don't want your cat to go. They're completely nontoxic and they work really well!

If you can stand the smell use vinegar. Or clean it up with something like Resolve - and do a darn good job. But has she been using the area since your threw out the bed? Or how about getting another litter pan and placing it temporarily where the bed used to be? Use unscented litter. Good luck.

lemon juice if you clean the area with washing powder not bleach as that is ammonia based makes the cat want to compete with the smell of bleach by urinating etc over the top of it

I find that lemon works well, it seemed to be a good deturent when my cats were kittens, just a little squirt of lemon juice around the area will do it.

Grizzly Bear Pysse. No cat will come within two Kms. of your neighbourhood if you spray that around.
