HELP! My computer gets infected with same virus/spyware all the time! Nothing works, whos best to call, HELP?
Every like month or two my families computer gets infected with like the same viruses and spyware and it gets so bad right away that we have to wipe out the computer (whatever its called where you shut it down and wipe out all the programs and everything, sorry I'm not that computer savvy so I apologize if I sound like a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff). But it just gets infected again in like a month.
My mom has taken it to a couple places and they don't know what to do. They just shut it down like we do and put on a new anti-virus program, but it still gets infected over and over. Like no anti-virus stuff works. Even the one we have on now when I try to run a scan a popup comes up saying "Application cannot be executed. The file is infected." Heck, even when I don't click anything that popup will come up.
Can hackers cause this? Cause one of my neighbors told me we apparently have one in the area but I don't really know anything about it...
So can anyone give some advice about what to do to stop this? Are there any really good places that deal with this stuff that we can call in someone or bring the computer there? Please help!

Hi, if you need more assistance feel free to email me. But let me give you my answer.
First thing you need to do is install asquared free- you can see from their website reviews, and comparison charts from respected 3rd party companies that they are the best. Do this for all your families computers, and run a deepscan.
It should remove all traces of malware, it will even clean up your infected system restore points.
The free version does not have real time protection though, so i would recommend you get Microsoft Security Essentials. install it on all your computers, and you should be safe once again.
to make sure you don't get reinfected if it has put itself in your system restore files. hit the windows key+alt go to system protection, system restore, and turn it off to purge the restore files, and then turn it back on to make new clean ones.
I know alot of people here will tell you to use AVG and Malawarebytes. I have used both of them for a while, but Lab tests have shown that Asquared is far superior to Malwarebytes and MSE is surpassing top companies like ESET, Norton, Kaspersky, etc.
Source(s): http://www.emsisoft.com/en/ ---asquared http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/ http://www.cloudantivirus.com/en/ Extra. If for some reason you are unable to install MSE. Go head and install Panda Cloud antivirus. Its just as good as MSE. You need to make an account, but once you do that you can use that account as many times as you like. - Anonymous1 decade ago
Stopping spyware ('malware') is more than a one-time inoculation, folks.
This is about a weekly habit of cleaning 'nasty dust bunnies'
from your personal computer.
In much the same way you clean your home with your favorite broom
and your favorite cleaning solvents, you will also need good tools
to clean spyware out of your PC.

There could be many factors causing this but it seems to be an infection on your pc. I am assuming you are using Windows.
I would recommend you scan your computer with an anti-virus remover.
But this could be other types of infections - spyware or adware. So you should scan with the removers as well. I have some suggestions for some good free removal tools below:
For an anti-virus remover I would suggest you download Avast Anti-virus: http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Home-Edition-Free-A...
When you launch Avast for the first time select "Demo". You will understand what I mean
For Adware/Spyware Removal: http://download.cnet.com/Ad-Aware-Free-Anti-Malwar...
If these fail to run you may need to boot in safe mode and then use these removal tools.
To do this look follow the steps in the article below:
To boot in safe mode for Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222
To boot in safe mode for versions from Windows Vista and later: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/S...
You need to have these removers installed on your PC if you need to boot into safe mode.
If you are using a Mac: then download and install this http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-antivirus-mac-editi...
If you are using Linux: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-for-linux-workstati...

Run the Windows in Safe Mode (F8) and Perform a Full Scan with MalwareBytes Anti-malware.

Note: the malware may prevent mbam-setup.exe from downloading and running. You can download and rename this program from a different computer before running it on infected system.

You may need to use a program to completely wipe your drive before you reformat it. A good one is called Drive Scrubber 3. On this program is the wiping version that the government uses to wipe their computers before they sell them to the public so it's one of the best ways to wipe your drive before your reformat it.
Just make sure that you have CDs to reformat your computer with before you do this because when this program is done your drive will be nothing but zeros and ones.
You can get this program at the IOLO website.
