Matthews compared Obama to Adlai Stevenson, not Carter. But you are right that he has been critical of Obama for being too detached and intellectual in his approach to the country's problems. I don't find that surprising. The supposedly liberal media is not reluctant at all to criticize a Democrat where it is deserved. Unlike the right-wing talkers that gave Bush and the Republican Congress a free pass as they attacked the wrong country and ran up huge deficits. In fact, we heard right-wing talkers asking if deficits really mattered anymore. Seems that right-wingers all think that deficits are a matter of life and death now. Funny how their views on deficits did a complete about-face on November 4, 2008.

Matthews is a Republican one day and a Democrat the next. I cant tell what side he is on. But Obama still gives me the tingles when he is in top form and giving his inspirational speeches. Lately he has come down to earth but he does inspire those moments when he is not working on mundane problems.

Yes unlike Fox who couldn't bring themselves to criticize the last president, MSNBC, which I will completely say does have liberal bias, does in fact question and criticize the President for not keeping his promises. You know like media outlets used to do all the time.
