Why dont Hopkins Fight Dawson? Is it the same reason Floyd isnt fighting Shane?

Hopkins has never avoided any fights or fighters, that is one fighter that would fight Hercules if you put a pair of Reyes on him. Yes I am not going to argue Dawson's amazing talent and skills but I just can't sit here and let this statement go by. Floyd wishes he had an once of the courage and heart that Hopkins have. Maybe we should ask Trinidad and Pavlik about Hopkins being afraid, what would their answer be? Dawson would encounter some never experienced rough and seasoned tactics from Hopkins that would really put to test his heart and courage. Dawson is an awesomly talented fighter but Bernard Hopkins is definately no chicken.

Just for the record, Mayweather offered Mosley fights twice when Mosley was dominating at 135 and Mayweather was moving up from 130 after destroying Corrales. But Mosley was looking for the big $$ vs Oscar at WW. Can't really blame him for that. And I don't think Floyd is avoiding Mosley, Shane has a fight in January and the bigger $ for Floyd was to wait and see what happened with Pac-Cotto. Assuming Mosley wins and either Floyd beats Manny or the fight doesn't get made, I'm pretty sure Mosley-Mayweather will happen. At least I hope so. I think Mosley has an even better shot at beating Floyd than Manny does and I've wanted to see it since they were both at 135

As far as Hopkins? Name ONE fight he avoided? The only person to beat him somewhat decisively was Roy Jones back in 93. Hopkins kept that rematch from happening because of money but you could say the same thing about Roy though at the time, before Roy's reflexes were shot, the result would likely have been the same.

Dawson is good. No doubt about that. But he's not Roy Jones-not even close. He might eke out a decision over Hopkins but it wouldn't be easy. Hopkins is very solid defensively. If the fight doesn't happen, it won't be because Hopkins is ducking or scared. The guy is pushin 50! He has absolutely nothing to prove and nothing more to accomplish at this point.

Let's face it. Unless he goes down in weight, there aren't too many real challenges at LHW except for the old guys like Hopkins, Jones, and Calzaghe. Hopkins gets credit for not being beaten soundly for 15 years and I don't recall ever seeing him seriously hurt or even close to going down. The Taylor fights were questionable. Calzaghe beat both Jones and Hopkins solely because of activity.

But Dawson? Very questionable chin, not nearly as active as Calzaghe and def not the power to hurt Hopkins. If it does happen, I wouldn't bet against Hopkins. Dawson's only solid advantage is that he is left handed and a speed advantage though it would be largely nullified by Hopkins defense. And the old guy is just plain tough. But if Dawson can make some more noise with impressive wins-which he hasn't done of late-and the money is there, Hopkins will take the fight if he isn't collecting SSI by then! LOL

Chad Dawson, this guy has some talent, but I think his fighting style is almost the same as Hopkins, defense-oriented, slick defense and head movement, solid guard, lateral movement and fast jabs. I think Dawson has the advantage in offense, have you ever seen him explode? He has some fast hands! But, Hopkins will truly test Dawson, because Dawson is used to fighting sluggers with OHKO power, such as Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson. Hopkins already has a match, maybe after he wins, he will fight Dawson. Problem is, Dawson wants to fight either Cloud or Pascal, but when the match happens, I favor Dawson by a SD win over Hopkins. A really close fight, Dawson won by being the busier fighter.

Bhop never ducked anyone. The question is why should he have to fight any1 especially Dawson? He's 44 years old. B-Hop can fight whoever he wants. But he did once say after beating Pavlik, that he's done fighting youg guns, cuz he said what's the point in ******* up their career at a young age when they're the future? When B-hop will be gone in a year or two, Pavlik aint never coming back

dawson called out calazaghe jusr before he retired, even though he is overated calzaghe still beat hopkins pretty easily. hopkins knows dawson would beat him these days, dawson would love to fight him cause it would make him a lot of money but dawson has multipe people he could fight, i would like to see him fight adamek or mayeb zsolt erdei who just won a cruiserweight title on the weekend, and floyd doesnt fight mosley cause he isnt in mayweathers class and there wouldnt be mnay ppv buys either

Dawson is not in the level of Bernard Hopkins. Bernard never ducked or cherry picked like Mayweather did. I think comparing Bernard to Floyd is an insult. Bernard is in his mid 40s. Chad Dawson needs Bernard more than Bernard needs him.
