Registering a Dogs Name with AKC/UKC?

I have always been told that when registering your dog that the name must contain a portion of the dogs father and mothers names. Is this the case with all breeds or just certain breeds? or not at all?

Looking to register a Lab with the UKC.

    Not true at all.

My dog is AKC and her moms name was "Violet Cadillac" and her dad was "Sals Cadillac"

and my dog is "Rubina de la Chalet" and we call her Ruby.

That is not true at all. The registered name can be anything at all. Some (most) breeders will require their kennel name be in the dog's registered name as a condition of sale, though.
