I'm on the contraseptive pill, is this okay to do...?

Well I was meant to stop taking my pills last thursday, so I could be on my period, but I didn't want to be on for the weekend, so I took an extra pill.

Then I didn't take it for three days, and then realised that I don't want to be on for the next weekend, so I started taking my next packet 4 days early.

Is this okay? Will I ruin my body?

Keep in mind that when you take hormonal birth control, the "periods" you have aren't real periods at all -they are withdrawal bleedings due to the drop in hormones. You don't really need to have a "period" if you take birth control, but it was designed that way so women could feel normal/have a (sometimes not accurate) indication of pregnancy/not.

You will not ruin your body, but you may mess up your cycle. Best start taking your pill more regularly... it's much more reliable that way. If you mess around too much, you may ovulate, which you're not supposed to do on the pill.

And if you want to skip a period, skip the entire stop week.

  • As long as you have a minimum of 4 periods a year, it's ok!
