how do I remove the seat of a 1993 honda shadow motorcycle to remove the gas tank?

I believe the seat bolts down with the upper shock mounts.Loosen the nuts at the shock mount and lift.

Shadows come in different years, engine sizes and model #s.

VT1100C - remove the one bolt at the rear of the seat which bolts the seat bracket to the fender.

Lift up on the bracket enough to slide your hand under it (will prevent scratching the fender).

Hit the hump of the seat to the rear, to unhook it from the fender.

VT600 - one bolt on each side of the seat.

Some models, the seat bolt is at the same position as the seat strap.

Some, the seat bolts are at an angle, pointing forward, a little in front of the rear seat.

After removing the bolts, pull the seat to the rear.
