How can someone say rape is worse than murder?

I was with a friend of mine last night and she had pepper spray so "she didn't get raped" and we kept talking and then she expressed the view that she would rather be killed than be raped because if she was killed she would be dead but if she was raped she would have to live with it. As a rape victim I was kind of offended by this (I didn't tell her I was raped). It was like she was saying rape was a horrible thing and I must be living a horribly sad life. My life is fine... it's not perfect but then again, most peoples lives aren't. So anyway I was shocked and I kept asking her how she could think that? Eventually she just said that because I am a guy I don't understand. She was never raped (to my knowledge). I just don't understand how anyone could say something like that. Just because I was raped doesn't mean I have to be sad.

The same way you can say it isn't.
I think she has the right to say it would be worse for HER. 

And I don't think she was trying to say that people who get raped are living a horribly sad life, she was just saying what she would feel if that happened to her. 

About the comment of you being a guy... She's just stupid for thinking guys don't get raped.

I'm glad you're fine now. I don't know what I would do if I ever got raped.

Well I will not even try to challenge your view, as you are a MAN AND A RAPE VICTIM, which to me would seem more degrading than being a woman and a rape victim, and I respect you as you have the courage to tell people about it AND continue to live a ordinary life.

well i can see what she ment if some1 raped you you chould get pregnant and have no money to support the baby and you to and end up on the street and both dead . I know it sounds really grusome but its true

way more information needed. first of all. everyone is different and so are our reactions to traumatic events. you don't know what HAS maybe happened to her already (or someone close to her) that is creating this kind of anxiety.  it could be that you have a good support system that got you through what you went through. it could be that you are dealing with it in a different way. 

i know what you mean though. i have had my share of tough stuff to deal with that other people "wouldn't know how to deal with". but you have no choice but to deal with it when it happens to you do you?

the person is still alive and remembers the whole experience and might re-live it in their head day, after day, after day.
