Can hamsters get and spread fleas?

I have had two dogs where i live and never a single flea until the last few weeks and my sons hamster population is out of control.

Fleas live on all creatures, they don't stay specific to cats and dogs. Hamstersa tend to pick off biting fleas and eat them, you will have to clean your house and all your pets, find a good flea shampoo for the animals and spray for the carpet, you will need to flea dip your ham too, check for anything hamster specific, if nothing go for a mild all natural puppy/kitten, it's important to go all natural as flea shampoos do contain pesticides and can kill your hamster.

Do you mean your sons hamster flea population ? if your hamsters are breeding and you actually mean hamster population please seperate everyone, you will have to treat everyone individually and will probably have to get everyone to the vet for some deworming, including the hamsters.

My hamster had fleas when the dog brought them in from the backyard...There are flea sprays for hamsters that you can find at some pet stores (PetSmart carried it last time I saw it).
